Do
you run a local community football club?
-
Would a website help your
football club raise awareness and assist
with the general running of the club affairs.
-
Would it help if your football
club web site updated itself but was flexible
enough so that manual updates could be added
by anyone with permissions at any time.
-
Would you want the ability
to add new fresh content as often as you
felt it necessary to your football club
web site?
Read the below case study
involving local junior football team Nunthorpe
Athletic and their recently launched club website.
Nunthorpe Athletic Junior
Football Club have just launched their
new Website just in time for the new football
season within the Teesside Junior Football Alliance
League (TJFA).

Merlin Webcraft worked closely
with Nunthorpe Athletic Junior Football Club
to produce a web site that reflected the clubs
image and requirements.
The main area of concern for the
club was the need for the website to stay current
and not lapse into disuse through lack of attention.
They identified through researching other web
sites of other local teams that they were often
out of date either with old results being listed
or blank pages were someone had failed to maintain
the web site. Nunthorpe Athletic understood
that this was going to be the biggest challenge
and were looking for a way for the site to remain
current with no reliance on anyone else to do
this.
Merlin Webcraft created a system
where by all results and data are collated and
updated automatically onto their website. This
means there is no reliance on anyone in the
club to update this data. as a result the website
remains current with only the latest information
being held and viewed.
The football club wanted
two other features.
-
As the club runs a large
number of managers it was apparent that some
of these may want to add their own unique
content for their teams. This could include
football team photos, match reports and team
notices. So it was requested that the web
site have some form of content management
allowing those managers that wanted this feature
to be able to update their own set of pages.
Communication is always problematic
for the football club and teams, involving several
phone calls, text messages to and from the players.
Nunthorpe Athletic identified that having a
back end system that allowed them to easily
send a single email to all members of a single
team therefore simplfying match and training
arrangements. Add this to the ability to update
the web site notices section for each team the
club felt they would be more easily able to
manage team communication.
As a result Nunthorpe Athletic
Junior Football Club has a new web site that
allows automatic updating as well manual updating
as and when required. There are no special skills
or training required to do this it is simply
a point and click system.
The group mailing process together
with the manually updated information sections
of the web site allow for excellent central
communication between managers and their teams,
as well as the club with its managers and with
an ever growing newsletter database.
If you are involved with a club
and are experiencing the problems identified
by Nunthorpe Athletic - Out of date data, inability
for anyone to update it, limited accessibility,
then consider contacting Merlin Webcraft to
discuss how their content managed football web
sites can help your club.
